Jul 9: Our Life and Our Salvation

Pieter von Cornelius: Joseph Recognizes His Brothers
Nationalgalerie, Berlin, 1816-17

Saturday of the Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Reading I: Gen 49:29-32; 50:15-26a

But Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid! Am I in the place of God? Even though you intended to do harm to me, God intended it for good, in order to preserve a numerous people, as he is doing today (NRSV, Gen 50:19-20).”

Father, every situation for us is the saving one. Through the Word, your life and power is always offered to us in every situation in the Holy Spirit that blessing may flow from it. Evil has no grip upon us as long as we rely solely upon you, Lord, who empower us with the gift of your own divine life. You alone, Father, are salvation for us.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
